2017 HASELT Internship Program Closure

2017 Interns Collage

Every day at the HASELT office is special in its own, genuine way. We believe that today’s day is special for many reasons: today we are finishing our two-months long Internship Program, and wrapping up one excellent learning experience.

This is the second year as we organize a Summer Internship Program with HASELT. Few words about why we did start with this project in the first place and what do we want to achieve through the program: HASELT internships most closely reflects our learning & sharing company culture. We have achieved great company successes thanks to being open and helpful to each other, therefore we strive to transfer the same approach to our Internship Program as well. Simply said, we have created and are continuously improving our Internship Program in order to bring the best possible learning and working experience to young people. Our Internship Program is focused on working on challenging projects along with a team of professionals, learning the latest IT practices and cutting-edge technologies, team collaboration, and sharing knowledge. Having that said, our goal is to bring real industry experience closer to students and young people and to prepare them for their future careers as IT professionals.

This year, we had six amazing interns who were working on two separate projects. The HASELT UI/UX Design Team was working on building an online application using Adobe XD as a primary design tool, while the HASELT Software Development Engineering Team was working on developing a ‘people directory’ web solution, which includes features like employees contacts browsing, career tracking, skills and responsibilities, time-off reporting, event and training planning, etc. Although they were working as two separate teams, we are extremely satisfied with how the two teams were collaborating and giving feedback to each other. We are even more satisfied with how fast Ksenija, Nenad, Lukash, Kristijan, Stefanija and Milosh fit into our company and cooperated with all of us on daily basis.

During the 2017 HASELT Summer Internship Program , apart from our daily activities on the projects, we have completed more than twenty workshops and lectures covering wide array of topics related to software architecture, software development, hybrid mobile apps development, practical internet of things, providing an exceptional UX, leadership, building a professional presence, database systems, guerilla design, test driven development and so on. Almost everybody from our company was having the role of a trainer in a particular field of expertise, allowing our interns to get closer to all team members and ‘grab’ knowledge from everyone at HASELT. An additional challenge for us was the fact that this year, we were having one foreign student coming from the Brno University of Technology via student exchange in collaboration with the student organization IAESTE Macedonia.

Guided by the premise that good traditions should be nurtured, we have challenged our dear interns to think of the first synonym that pops in their minds when it comes to HASELT. This is what they came up with:

1   2   3

6   4   5

We have wrapped up this wonderful experience with а closing ceremony (photo below) and a brief presentation of their work.

As it is quite challenging to describe a company in a word only, it is pretty much the same to describe the whole experience in a single blog post. Because of that, we have something more on this topic coming up soon, so follow us closely!

We thank Ksenija, Nenad, Lukash, Kristijan, Stefanija and Milosh for their constant contributions in the past two months and for giving us the opportunity to learn from them, too.

If you want to take part in our next Internship story, let us get to know you better; drop us your CV or send us a message at careers@haselt.com, anytime. We are very eager to get to know each and every one of you – young and bright IT minds!

Until the next blog post, for more company news and updates follow us on our social media profiles.
